Introducing: RotoBanter
Looking back at BB, then looking ahead
You might notice something different about this article, that’s because the header usually has an image of Ballfield Banter overtop. But not anymore! I’ve got a big announcement to make.
But before I spill the beans, I have a couple of things I need to get through. First, I will take a look back at Ballfield Banter’s history, and second, a recap of my 2024 predictions, sleepers, busts, and how all that went. Spoiler alert, I hope my in-season advice was better than it was during the preseason!
Looking Back
I started Ballfield Banter during the 2023 NFL preseason with the aim of, well, writing the content I wanted to write about. I’ll admit it wasn’t fully thought through, but it allowed me to experiment with different things and ways of getting things out. Even before that, I had a podcast I produced during the 2022 season, which I will also admit I’ve been very inconsistent at getting out. With a full-time job and three young kids, finding the time to record other than at night is difficult especially when the recording studio is in your toddler’s room!
It was quite the grind in 2023, as I had writing commitments elsewhere I also had to take care of, plus writing game recaps for fantasy football for yet another organization. All said and done, I was writing almost every night of the 2023 NFL season, which is exhausting. I knew I had to make a change.
So in 2024, I pared down my writing commitments, leaving one of the places I had written for so I could focus more on Ballfield Banter. I began experimenting with college WR prospecting and built a model many readers have heard mentioned in Discord. I even wrote an eBook detailing my thoughts and process on the subject.
The year went on, and I was a bit discouraged. While it was mostly my fault for not promoting like I should have, the newsletter and community largely hadn’t grown. I wrote an open letter to my readers, detailing the struggle. I’m incredibly thankful for the people who do read this newsletter and for those who have joined since I wrote the letter, and who make things worth writing.
Looking Ahead & Announcement!
And that leads me to the final section. This will be the last Ballfield Banter article...
Not because I’m going away (stop sobbing, I can’t tell if you are out of joy or sadness so please stop 😉 ). It’s because I’m putting a fresh face on it. I’d like to introduce you to RotoBanter! 👏 👏 👏

I think a fresh start is what is needed. Ballfield Banter was a fun name, but it didn’t quite give off the vibe I wanted it to. The name didn’t quite sell exactly what was going on at BB. RotoBanter, in my opinion, fixes that. “Roto” is often used in fantasy spaces and is a short-term for a type of fantasy league. Banter harkens back to the original name, and implies that while we discuss fantasy and are trying to win our leagues, we’re trying to have a fun, inviting atmosphere while doing it.
If you want to help out, just spread the word. Do you have a friend or family member who is interested in fantasy football? Direct them here! It’s more fun when you’re playing alongside people who share in the experience. We’re a fun community that loves helping one another.
I’m excited to see where this year takes us! I don’t know what’s in store for our small community, but I’m excited just the same.
