To all my fellow Americans, Happy Independence Day!
As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, I just wanted to say a few things. I know you all subscribe to this newsletter because you love fantasy football and nerding out over numbers. But we cannot get so lost studying this game and its intricacies that we forget that we live in a real world with real problems. We must remember our duty to our country and countrymen.
Stand up for your country. Love it, even with all of its problems. Fight to hold it together against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It’s hard to find another country, if any, that has given the rights, abilities, and opportunities to its citizens as we have here in our home.
If you haven’t read the Constitution and Bill of Rights before, maybe check it out sometime. You don’t need to be a scholar, but having a basic knowledge of our founding documents is never, ever, a bad thing.
Thank a veteran. Their sacrifice is immeasurable. They spent or are spending some of the best years of their lives serving you, me, all of us. They put their own lives on hold so that we didn’t have to.
Be a patriot. Things divide politically, and always have. Even back to the Founding Fathers, they didn’t always agree. There’s a whole bunch of Federalist Papers waiting to be read, detailing exactly where their disagreements lie. But one thing I’m sure most, if not all, could agree on is that they were patriots, despite their differences. I want all of us to do the same. Hold the line, save the union. 🇺🇸
